Dr Carlos Lam Yang

Carlos is one of the founding members of the Ethnic Health Collective (ECH) representing primary care and the charitable organization, the Auckland Chinese Medical Association (ACMA). A NZ-trained GP and urgent care doctor, he is passionate about Asian Health and has been interviewed by the media on various Asian Health issues as well as contributing to research on NZ Asian Health.

He is an ex-President of ACMA and currently serves as the Community Liaison officer. As an EHC member, he aims to make wider society more aware about the health issues that Asian people face in New Zealand using his insights as a frontline health professional serving an Asian-heavy population in East Auckland. He hopes that this will influence government health policy for our rapidly growing Asian whānau and ultimately contribute to reducing inequity between the different ethnic groups by addressing shortcomings in the provision of healthcare to our more vulnerable Asian and ethnic populations.
